Alimenta la Solidaridad (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the organization”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our volunteers, donors, community leaders, beneficiaries, and others who support our work. This Privacy Policy describes our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your personal information when you visit our website, make a donation, apply to volunteer, or subscribe to our newsletter.

We do not sell or exchange your personal information, nor do we use it to send you communications on behalf of other organizations. We only share your information in the ways described in this policy.

Beneficiaries and Communities We Support

We do not use our website to collect personal information from the children and families who receive our services. However, as part of our community meal programs, we do collect certain basic information regarding identification, family composition, and socioeconomic and nutritional status in order to determine eligibility and priority for care, as described on our page How Do We Do It?. This information is collected and stored through both electronic and non-electronic means, with the safeguards described in this policy.

3. How We Collect Your Information

We collect information directly from you when you provide it to make a donation, apply to be a volunteer, or subscribe to our newsletter. We also collect information through cookies when you visit our website, and we occasionally solicit feedback through voluntary surveys.

Donors

• To process your donation, we use third-party payment providers that receive only the information necessary to complete the transaction.

• To send you a donation receipt to the email address or mailing address you provide.

• To contact him by email, phone, or mail to ask questions about your donation.

We do not share your personal information with third parties for purposes other than those described here, unless: (1) you request or expressly consent to it; (2) we believe we are legally required to do so; or (3) it is necessary to protect your safety or that of others.

6. International Transfer of Information

Alimenta la Solidaridad operates programs in Venezuela and has a support structure in the United States. As a result, your personal information may be stored, processed, or transferred between Venezuela, the United States, and the countries where our third-party service providers are located. By providing us with your information, you consent to this transfer and storage outside your country of residence.

7. Data Storage and Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill our legitimate purposes, legal and contractual obligations, or as long as there is a legal basis for its processing. For example, U.S. tax regulations governing nonprofit organizations may require us to retain certain donor information for up to seven years for audit purposes. If your information is no longer necessary to fulfill legal obligations, we will delete it upon your request.

8. If you do not provide your personal information

You can visit our website and learn about our organization without providing us with any personal information. However, as described in this policy, certain information is required to make a donation or volunteer. We strive to collect only the information necessary for each specific purpose.

9. Privacy of Children and Adolescents

Our website is not intended for children or adolescents under the age of 16, and we do not actively collect or solicit personal information from minors through our site. The information we collect about children who participate in our community programs (for example, at food pantries) is collected directly in the field, with the consent of their parents or legal guardians, and not through this website.

In the United States, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) generally does not apply to nonprofit organizations like ours; however, we voluntarily apply equivalent standards of protection, given that a large part of our mission is focused on children.

10. Your Rights Regarding Your Data

You have the right to request access to the personal information we have collected or shared, to request that it be corrected or deleted, and to object to the processing of your information for a specific purpose. We will need to verify your identity before processing your request.

Article 28 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela recognizes the right of every person to access information and data concerning themselves or their property contained in official or private records, to know the use and purpose for which such information is used, and to request before the competent courts the updating, correction, or destruction of any data that is erroneous or unlawfully infringes upon their rights ( habeas data action). Venezuela currently has neither a national data protection authority nor a comprehensive personal data protection law; however, we respect and facilitate the exercise of this constitutional right.

If you are in the United States

As a nonprofit organization, we are generally exempt from state consumer privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, we voluntarily honor reasonable requests for access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data.
